I know what you are thinking while reading the title. What’s this? Don’t worry, let me explain to you first regarding the title of this article. Pomodoro means tomato in Italian. It resembles the shape of a timer. Alright, now I am coming to the principal theme of this essay. The content will provide you a tool to kill procrastination with the help of the Pomodoro technique.

It’s basically setting the timer for 25 minutes and then start concentrating on whatever you are doing. The key to win is not to lose concentration unless the timer rang. As soon as the alarm rang, give yourself a small break and tap on your shoulder by relaxing for a shorter time.

I tried this technique when listening to the Amal lectures. Initially, it was difficult for me to keep my cell phone aside, but with a little effort, it helped me to be more productive. The approach is handy and result-oriented. Let me take you to my experience.

At the start of watching the lectures, when I set the alarm for 25 minutes, it was 12 times that got me distracted. The reasons are multiple, and you can say, this is how the human brain works. It forced me to redo it and then redo more. I switched off my cell phone and start focusing on the use of a classic digital watch, which I used to wear in the pre-digital era. This works for me and I got to know the reason behind all my procrastination and distraction, yes my phone!

The lessons which I have learned with this technique are;

1- The human brain works in a mysterious way. You need to focus by minus all the things which you think deviated from your core agenda.

2- Setting the time limit is giving you the credits which help you stick to the target.

3- The key to being more productive is to stay with one thing at a given time. There are no shortcuts or anything like that exists.

I ate that frog with a simple Pomodoro technique. Hopefully, you will also overcome procrastination with the help of this handy but amazing tool.
